First Results & 2 Videos of the Feb. 21st Arsinoe Occultation
New: 2003 Feb. 25Below are preliminary results, from northwest to southeast across the path, for the occultation of 11.0-mag. TYC 1984-01884-1 by (404) Arsinoe on U.T. 2003 February 21. All reported observations so far are from California. Below is listed the observer's name, the location, the approximate distance from Steve Preston's predicted central line in km, and the reported duration in seconds, from Walter Morgan's e-mail message of late Feb. 21 and two additional miss observations that he didn't have. In Ed Morana's .avi file, the target star is in the upper left and disappears about 4 seconds from the start. The "star" near the left edge, to the left of the target star, is a hot pixel on Ed's Watec 902H camera, I believe used with an 8-inch SCT telescope. In Rick Baldridge's .avi file, the target star is in the lower left and disappears about 4 seconds from the start. He used a 16-inch observatory telescope with a Stano Components image intensifier and Sony camcorder to record the image intensifier image. David Dunham
